Blu-Ray for X-Box 360?

Since the end of the format war many people expected that Blue-Ray players will get cheaper and more accessible to consumers.

Recently Sony representatives stated that the prices will most probably not drop until the end of 2008. Now according to some rumours Microsoft is planning to make an agreement with Sony to bring the new technology to X-Box 360. Although nothing has been officially announced yet probably many players and movie fans remember that an external HD-DVD player for X-Box 360 was rather cheap.

I wrote about cheap Blu-Ray players for PC which can be bought for as little as $120-$150, but the external HD-DVD players for X-Box were even cheaper. I wonder if external Blu-Ray players for X-Box would be as cheap as the HD-DVD. In spite of the fact that no definite answers are known according to rumours there is also the possibility of an internal Blu-ray drive being incorporated into a new, more expensive “premium” 360 model, as it is already in the PlayStation 3. it is said that Sony would not oppose, which is somehow not surprising.
