The Nikon D60 is a newer version of a very successful Nikon D40 with all the best functions of the older one and several new, interesting features. Similarly to the older model the D60 is affordable,
surprisingly easy to use, well made and very user-friendly. One of the most noticeable new features of the 10-megapixel Nikon D60 is the new Image sensor cleaning system which by default cleans the sensor every time the camera is turned on (this can be changed manually).
The camera has a 2,5-inch good quality LCD monitor which is enough to review and edit the photos.

As this is only an updated model of an older Nikon, not much has changed in the external look of the camera. Some buttons were relocated, but it is still very handy and with a comfortable grip. The battery is placed in the base of the hand grip, yet it is not obtrusive. The new MH-23, which is included in the box, charges the battery in about ninety minutes. Also located on the rear edge of the hand grip is the SD compartment. The new Nikon D60 supports the new SD-HC standard providing capacities of over 4GB. At the top of D60 there is the Pop-Up Flash which raises automatically in Auto or Scene modes, or can be raised manually by pressing the flash button.

The Nikon D60 has an interesting feature which ought to help especially the photo-newbies. Apart from the traditional help suggesting preferable settings for shooting particular objects there is this ‘?’ icon which occasionally blinks when the camera has some hints about some photo modes or image adjustments. D60 has an abundance of image optimization presets, such as Softer, Vivid, Portraits and others, as well as many sharpening, Tone and color mode options. And if that is not enough the software included in the box (for both PC and Mac) should satisfy your needs.
All in all, it a very good digital camera for all photography fans – clear menus and help options will suit amateurs, while abundance of options will satisfy professionals. For about $800 you get the camera and: EN-EL9 Rechargeable Li-ion Battery, MH-23 Quick Charger, UC-E4 USB Cable , DK-20 Rubber Eyecup, AN-DC1 Camera Strap, BF-1A Body Cap, DK-5 Eyepiece Cap, BS-1 Accessory Shoe Cover, Software Suite CD-ROM.
