Toshiba Satellite A210
Toshiba Satellite A210 is a low end laptop designed for office work rather than for gaming, yet it is surprisingly powerful for its price range.
Moreover, I bet it could do a lot better if it wasn’t for the pre-installed Windows Vista. Only after adjusting some of the Windows settings the Toshiba Satellite A210 performs really well. The A210 is reasonably big for a 15” laptop: 14.25 x 10.5 x 1.5 inches and light: 2,72kg, although it seems even better when you carry it. The Toshiba Satellite A210 has a built-in 1,3 Megapixel web cam which performs well in daylight, but slightly worse in dim places.

The Toshiba Satellite A210 is equipped with an AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-60 (2.0GHz, 1MB Level 2 Cache); Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium; 1GB RAM - 2×512MB DDR2 (667 MHz);
200GB SATA HDD, 4200rpm and Built-in DVD Super-Multi Double Layer Drive. The Hard Disc could be faster, but a bit pricier Toshiba A515 offers 250GB, 5400rpm drive. Also the 1 GB RAM is a bit too little for Vista, but still the overall performance is satisfactory.

The Toshiba Satellite A210 has good, loud, stereo speakers and a headphone port handle audio output. Wireless networking works impeccably and a 56k modem jack and a 10/100 Ethernet port round out the networking features. The Toshiba Satellite A210 has also a built-in 5-in-1 media card reader.

The keyboard is of good quality, however, the writing experience is always very subjective so you should try it before buying. The touchpad has no fancy features (unlike the Alienware gaming laptop) and is comfortable to use. At the top of the keyboard there are some CD/DVD control buttons with predefined functions. All in all, the design is grand, the laptop does not overheat and provides good performance for the money. The only cons are slightly slow HDD and Vista. Suggested price is over $700, but you can get the Toshiba Satellite A210 for about $500.
