Nikon D3

Nikon D3 is the latest professional digital camera with plenty of new, great features and many updated old ones. The new Nikon features 3-inch and 922,000 pixel LCD monitor, up to eleven frames per second continuous in DX-crop mode, buttons sealed against moisture and many

more novelties. Additionally, it is the first digital camera to feature a HDMI HD video output. Nikon D3 is a high end digital camera which shows at the first sight. It is very solid, yet amazingly comfortable with all the buttons placed in the right spot, not too far from your fingers and not too crammed. Yet, of course it depends on the size of the hand that holds the camera. The Nikon D3 is equipped with a battery of large capacity – the whole 2500 mAh which should keep the camera running for quite a long time. Long with the camera you get a charger allowing the calibration of the battery (about 6 hours) and 2,5 hour full charging.

The new Nikon D3 is the first digital camera to have two Compact Flash card slots, so when you lack free space on one card the digital camera automatically starts saving your photos on the second one. Alternatively, you might change the options so that the second one backs up

everything that is saved on the first memory card. As in the highest resolution – 12,1-megapixel 4,256 x 2,832 the images’ size might be rather substantial it is a really good solution. Surprisingly, Nikon D3 has no difficulties recording all the pictures on the memory card even in continuous high speed shooting mode when you can take 9 frames per second (Nikon D700 manages 5fps). In fact, it is one of the fastest digital cameras available on the market at the moment not only when it comes to recording the files, but also browsing them, transferring files to your pc and even turning the camera on.

Nikon D3 has plenty of options allowing image adjustment: 10-level sharpening, 7-level contrast setting, 3-level brightness, 7-level saturation and 7-level hue adjustment setting. Nikon could do a bit better with brightness, but still the range of settings is decent. Nikon D3 features also 4-level Active D-lighting which is a shadow and highlight enhancement feature also found in Nikon D700. Nikon has outrun the competition with the ISO sensitivity of D3. This digital camera is capable of producing really good quality photos at ISO 6400, and even at higher ISO, but with decreasing picture quality. With its High ISO four-level noise reduction Nikon D3 really works miracles.
The new Nikon D3 is a superb digital camera whose good points overshadow its few (if any) drawbacks. It was built for speed which is visible in the clear menus, extraordinary continuous shooting capabilities and response time. It is well worth recommending and of course buying. And when you do buy it in the box you will find:
Nikon D3 digital SLR body & body cap
MH-22 Quick Charger & power cable
BS-2 accessory shoe cover
UC-E4 USB cable & cable clip
EG-D2 A/V cable
EN-EL4a Lithium-ion battery
AN-D3 shoulder strap
Software CD-ROM
Documentation

However, if you find the Nikon D3 a little too expensive you, you might want to have a look at the Nikon D700.
