Samsung D880 Duos
Samsung D880 Duos is the first mobile phone released by a large manufacturer that offers seamless dual SIM functionality. It also has a 3 megapixel autofocus digital camera built-in and a large 262K-colour 2.3-inch TFT display with QVGA resolution. Among the Samsung D880’s other
functions are FM radio, TV out, MS office document viewer, bluetooth with A2DP and a few more interesting things. Maybe it does not have the most innovative design and 3G support, but as for the first attempt it is a rather well done mobile phone. Of course because of the dual SIM functionality it is kind of biggish (it has to house two cards), but still if you were to choose between carrying two phones and one I bet you would want to have one. Samsung D880 measures 104 x 51 x 18.9 mm and it weighs 116 g.

Unlike the LG KF510, Samsung D880 is made of plastic.. and it shows. It’s not that it looks crappy, but dual SIM functionality is the thing mainly for businessmen who would most probably want their mobile phone to look more solid. All its covers are also made of plastic, but the battery has a
rubber-like finish to assure good handling. They keypad of this mobile phone is very comfortable and you can easily reach all the keys. What I don’t quite like about this phone is that is has only one-step shutter key for the camera, so when you press it theoretically it should autofocus, lock the exposure and take the photo, but I somehow prefer the two step shutter keys which again the LG KF510 offers. Moreover, the camera in Samsung D880 works only in portrait orientation.

Reception is very good in Samsung D880, the phonebook can store up to 1000 contacts with multiple information fields (you can set the default SIM to write to, or use the phone memory). The Li-Ion battery is powerful – 1200 mAh, which according to Samsung assures 240 hours of standby time and 9 hours of talk time. Unfortunately, the phone does not support SSL so some email clients – like Gmail for example – will not be at your disposal. One another disadvantage of Samsung D880 is surprisingly poor music player and the audio quality. But to finish with some more optimistic accent, the menus and general usability are great, so all in all the new Samsung D880 is quite a well done phone. It’s detailed specs are as follows:
