Sony Ericsson G502
The new Sony Ericsson G502 is the latest Internet-centred mobile phone in the G-lineup.
Intro:
Sony Ericsson G502 is not only compact and attractive but also quite powerful, especially when it comes to its main purpose - browsing the Web. Sony Ericsson G502 features 2 megapixel camera, Walkman 3.0, great battery life, 2-inch LCD display with QVGA resolution. Moreover, Sony Ericsson G502 has several connectivity options, GPRS, 3G and EDGE so you should have no problems using the phone practically anywhere in the world.
The design:
The new Sony Ericsson G502 is not a big phone, it measures only 109 x 46 x 13.5mm and weighs 83.5 grams. Sony Ericsson G502’s design is not among the most innovative, but it for sure looks attractive. Although it entire casing is made of plastic it does not look cheap nor fragile. At the front of Sony Ericsson G502 there is the 2’’ TFT QVGA display and below it the keyboard. On the left side of the phone there is the M2 memory card slot. On the right side you will find the dedicated camera button and volume controls. At the back of the phone is the loudspeaker (indeed loud for such a small phone) and the 2 megapixel camera lens.
Performance:
Nowadays mobile phones such as Sony Ericsson G502 serve many more purposes than mere making phone calls and sending messages. Those functions are obvious to anyone above the age of 4 so there is no point in discussing them. Instead, mobile phone manufacturers focus on features such as music players, web browsing and cameras, so that is what needs to be focused on here as well. Sony Ericsson G502 has only 2 megapixel camera which takes photos in 1600 x 1200 resolution. It reflects colors quite well, but unfortunately it has high noise levels and poor details. The camera can also record films in QVGA at 15 fps which is also not really impressive. Sony Ericsson G502 has integrated FM radio with memory for 20 stations and RDS. It also features Walkman 3.0 which assures great sound quality.
The Sony Ericsson G502 has been designed to browse the web and indeed it renders the pages very well. Thanks to plenty of settings you can adjust practically anything connected with web browsing, for example there are orientation mode and fullscreen settings. What is really useful when browsing sites on a mobile is the ‘find on page’ function which Sony Ericsson G502 of course features.
Apart from that the phone has great battery life thanks to its Li-Polymer 950 mAh battery which according to the producer assures up to 10 hours of talking, or 340 hours in stan-by mode. Additionally, Sony Ericsson G502 has standard applications such as calendar, file manager, notes, timer and so on.
Menus / user friendliness:
The phonebook of Sony Ericsson G502 allows you to save up to 1000 contacts and up to 7 numbers for each contact. In addition to that, you can add information such as the birth date, website, address, e-mail and you can also assign a ringtone and add a photo. Contacts are saved either in the phone’s memory or on the SIM card, but you cannot display both at the same time. Unfortunately, the phone can’t handle files such as .doc, or .pdf but even unsupported files can be attached to e-mails. The menus look and work great and without any lags, even when you browse the photos, so that’s another plus of the Sony Ericsson G502.
If you don’t mind that the phone does not support any document files and has no video-call camera, but you like browsing the net Sony Ericsson G502 might be just the right phone for you. Its price is yet to be set, but it will for sure not be too high.
