Nokia N78 is the latest smartphone in the N-series and it has very few minor disadvantages.
Intro:
Nokia N78 is a 3G mobile with HSDPA, 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash and autofocus, FM transmitter and stereo speakers. In addition to that it also features GPS receiver, big amount of RAM memory thanks to which you can run several applications at the same time, and a Navi wheel.
The design:
Nokia N78 measures 113 x 49 x 15.1 mm and weights 101.8g. The smartphone looks really impressive, with high quality casing. The only disadvantage in the design is the battery cover which is a little bit shaky. Nokia N78 is finished with glossy black and is very susceptible to fingerprints, so you will have to polish it quite often. At the front there is the 2.4-inch QVGA, 16M-colour display and, of course, the keypad. On the right side of Nokia N78 is the dedicated camera key and the volume rocker. On the left you will find the charger plug, microSD card slot, as well as the microUSB port. At the top of the smartphone is the power button and standard audio jack. At the back side of the camera is the 3.2 MP camera lens with LED flash. The lens has no protection so it might get scratched easily.
Performance:
Thanks to its BL-6F 1200 mAh battery Nokia N78 is supposed to last 320 hours in stand-by and 4 hours and 20 minutes of talk time. The speaker quality is really high and produces sound without any interferences. The smartphone has 96MB of RAM which is enough for a phone so you do not have to worry about closing all other applications just to listen to music. As Nokia N78 runs Symbian 9.3 OS it is really stable and pleasant to work with. Because of the OS you can save as many contacts, phone numbers and any additional information as you want. The only limit here is the phone’s memory. Nokia N78 comes with 76MB of internal memory, but the box contains also 2GB microSD card so you can save quite a large number of information there. And if that is still not enough the N78 supports cards up to 8 GB.
The call log by default holds up to 20 last dialed numbers, missed and received calls. Sending and receiving SMS and MMS messages is very intuitive, and the phone has a character counter so that you know how many messages your information will be send in.
The music player in Nokia N78 supports several file types, such as MP3, AAC, WMA and eAAC+ and comes with a few predefined equalizer settings. If that does not meet your requirements you can, of course, make some changes to them. Finding the track you are looking for is really easy as you can sort the tracks by artist, genre, or album.
Menus / user friendliness:
Fortunately the numerous features of the smartphone are well designed and easy to navigate through. The GPS has good maps and nice functionality. Symbian OS is very user friendly and assures customization options. The main menu has four different view modes to chose from and a few themes. Photos and videos can be viewed in portrait or landscape modes, so it can be said that the phone is very well though through.
