The design:
Samsung U800 both looks and feels great in hand. It is available in five colors: Soul Grey, Amethyst Violet, Soul Pink, Metallic Clack and Platinum Silver. All of them look solid and have metallic finishing which seems durable and makes good impression. The cell phone is only 9.9 mm thin and has a 2” 16M TFT display. At the back of the Samsung U800 Soul b you will find the 3 megapixel camera lens and a LED flash. Next to them is a loudspeaker grill. On the left side of the phone is the microSD card slot and a volume rocker. On its right side you will find the USB port and the dedicated camera key. Both top and bottom of Samsung U800 lack any buttons or ports.

Performance:
The 2”screen has excellent image quality and vivid colors. The voice quality is also very good at all times. There are six different dialling animations to choose from and several different main themes.

Samsung U800 manages all the common types of messages, such as emails, MMS, EMS and SMS. To convert SMS to EMS all you need to do is add formatting. Similarly to convert SMS to MMS you need to add a media file. Samsung U800 can store up to 500 SMS, 30 push messages, 200 broadcast messages and 30 user-defined messages.
The 3 megapixel camera can shot photos in up to 2048 x 1536 resolution. The photos are sharp and vivid despite the lack of autofocus. There are several settings available: frame, mosaic, multi-shot and single shot, and effects such as sepia, or negative. The Samsung U800 does a quick image processing reducing noise and instantly saved the picture.
With 1GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot the mobile phone is a great multimedia device as well. The music player has no equalizer presets, instead it has sound effects. The music player can run in the background and has such interesting features as surround and three types of visualization.

Menus / user friendliness:
Although there is a small lag when entering the main menu the transitions of different menus are smooth and pretty. Samsung U800 offers either 4 x 3 main menu grid or a list of items. In the list the last used subitems are highlighted to make the navigation easier. The phonebook, as usual in Samsung cell phones, can store up to 1000 contacts with several fields for each contact:5 numbers, 2 email addresses, URLs, short note. A ringtone can be assigned to each contact as well as a picture. When you dial a number Samsung U800 automatically browses the phonebook in search of a contact with the dialled digits. Of course you can also look for a contact by entering the name.
