Nokia 5320 XpressMusic

Nokia 5320 XpressMusic is a new cell phone running on Symbian and designed for the youth.

Intro:
Nokia 5320 is targeted at the younger users which is visible in its design and features. The mobile phone has a very good music player and loudspeaker performance, all the connectivity you might need, a lot of RAM and a fast CPU. On the top of that Nokia 5320 has 140MB of internal memory and a card slot should that not be enough.

Nokia 5320 pros:
+ 2 megapixel camera
+ 140 MB of internal memory
+ MicroSD card slot
+ 369MHz CPU
+ 128MB of RAM
+ USB 2.0 and Bluetooth
+ Dedicated music controls
+ Good quality display
+ Nice looks

Nokia 5320 cons:
- Only 2-inch display
- Below-average battery life
- Average camera
- No Wi-Fi

The design:
Nokia 5320 measures 108 x 46 x 15 mm and weights 90 grams. The phone is made of plastic but it does not produce any cracks or any other disturbing sounds. On the front of the camera is the 2” display and above it the earpiece and “My own” key, and the video call camera. Below the display is the keypad which is quite comfortable although it will probably require some getting used to. On the right side of Nokia 5320 is the volume rocker and dedicated camera key, whereas on the left you will find the card slot, and three dedicated music controls. On the back of the cell phone is the camera lens and dual LED flash. The lens is not protected by anything so it is rather susceptible to scratches. At the bottom of Nokia 5320 are the 3.5mm jack, the charger plug and the microUSB slot.

Performance:
As always with Nokia the signal reception is flawless at all times and the speaker quality is very good. As all the modern phones Nokia 5320 has a lot more to offer than just mere making phone calls. The cell phone is one of the Nokia’s XpressMusic line so as the name suggests it ought to assure excellent sound quality. The phone supports all the most popular audio formats, including MP3, AAC, eAAC+ and WMA and the music player can work in the background so that you can do a few other things at the time of listening to music. The music player has 5 pre-installed equalizer presets but you can modify them or create your own settings. Nokia 5320 has also FM radio with RDS and a video player.
Unfortunately it records films only at 15 fps in QVGA resolution. Also the photos taken with the phones camera are, to put it mildly, of average quality, with low contrast, low colors and high noise.
Browsing the Internet would be quite a nice experience if Nokia 5320 had a bigger display. I mean, the websites are generated almost like on your Mac, or PC but sometimes the letters are so small that you cannot read anything. Yet, the mailing and messaging work well.
According to the manufacturer Nokia 5320 has 250 hours of stand-by, 3,5 hours of talk time and 24 h of music time.

Menus / ease of use:
Nokia 5320 runs on Symbian so it is not only easy to use but also very customizable. There are four pre-installed themes but you can get a lot more from the internet. The call log holds 20 recently dialled, missed and received calls. The phonebook has unlimited capacity and multiple fields for each contact. Nokia 5320 comes also with four games, document viewer (editor may be also bought) and applications such as calendar, alarm and a dictionary.
