Samsung B2700 is an everything-resistant and quite versatile mobile phone for costumers demanding very durable devices.
Introduction:
Samsung B2700 is shock and dust resistant and of course waterproof. It has little built-in memory, but as it features a microSD card slot that should not be a problem. Surprisingly, the Samsung B2700 has many features not usually found in such devices. Apart from the 2 megapixel camera, music player, radio with RDS the Samsung B2700 has a flashlight, pedometer, compass and altimeter.

The design:
Samsung B2700 measures 115 x 52 x 18mm and weighs 114 grams. The phone is made of high quality plastic and especially hardened rubber to make it more durable. The phone is available in two colors – black and blue. At the front of the phone is the 256K-color 1.9-inch display with 176 x 220 resolution. The direct sunlight legibility is, surprisingly for Samsung, very good. At the bottom of the cell phone is only the microphone pinhole. At the top is the flashlight bulb. The left side houses the USB port and the volume rocker, whereas the right side features the dedicated camera key and flashlight knob. At the back you will find the camera lens and the loudspeaker grill. Generally the Samsung B2700’s keypad is very comfortable and responsive.
Performance:
Samsung B2700 has many features, but its primary aim is to be extremely durable and resistant to different unusual conditions. Indeed, you do not have to worry that when you drop the Samsung B2700 from a few meters on asphalt or pavement it will smash. The phone is very solid and you can even run it over with a car and it should survive. When it comes to more usual functionality like making phone calls the Samsung B2700 will not disappoint you. The reception is very good and the voice is always audible, loud and clear.
The Samsung B2700 also features a music player which despite not having equalizer is very good and loud. In fact the Samsung B2700 is among the loudest phones on the market. The video player has only very basic functionality, it cannot even play videos in landscape mode, but you can rewind and fastforward the films. The 2 megapixel camera in Samsung B2700 is of decent quality, but it is nothing extraordinary. Although there are a few shooting modes and some effect the images are a bit noisy.
What you wont find in too many phones but in Samsung B2700 is the compass, the altitude meter and the pedometer. All of them work very well and are easy to operate.
Menus / ease of use:
The interface in Samsung B2700 is very user friendly and quite customizable. There are a few themes to choose from and two of them change with your location. The phonebook is decent: you can store up to 5 numbers for each contact, 2 email addresses, URLs and of course you can assign a picture, ringtone and a note to each contact. Contacts can be organized into groups and you have some settings for those groups as wel. The call log is also nice and is divided into four fields, as usual.
