Asus Eee PC 1000HA

The new Asus Eee PC 1000HA is a low-end netbook which despite its low price is quite a capable device.

Introduction:
With the most recent trends in computing and the increasing popularity of small portable machines manufacturers try to outrun one another and pack their netbooks with as much hardware as possible and at the same time cut prices. The new Asus Eee PC 1000HA is very similar to another Asus, namely Eee PC 1000H which is slightly more expensive but features N-capable wireless card and Bluetooth module. That, of course, does not mean that the Asus Eee PC 1000HA which retails at the price of $429 is a worse computer, it is simply more available for people with thinner wallets, or those who don’t need such features.

The design:
Asus Eee PC 1000HA measures 10.47 (W) x 7.53 (D) x 1.12 ~ 1.50 (H) and weighs 3lbs 2.5oz. The netbook has quite a modern look with its glossy surfaces and smooth edges. It id made of high quality materials so it should endure the everyday portable use it is designed for. It might seem slightly biggish but that’s partially because of the 6-cell battery it uses. The Asus Eee PC 1000HA has also a very comfortable and responsive keyboard which is important in such small devices. You get accustomed to the keyboards quickly and so writing is not a problem. Additionally, the Asus Eee PC 1000HA is easily upgradeable as in one panel you will find hard drive, RAM Memory slot and wireless card. The netbook has plenty of ports so you can connect practically everything to it thanks t its: 3 USB slots, Headphone/Mic, VGA, Multi-Card reader..

Performance:
As the Asus Eee PC 1000HA runs Windows XP it works fast and seamlessly. The 10” display is of


very good quality and shows very bright and vivid colors. The overall performance of the system is really good and it is even possible to install Windows Vista on this small device (although I cannot imagine why anyone should want to do that). Obviously, such small computers are not designed for gaming, but for browsing the Internet or editing documents and the Asus Eee PC 1000HA does this job really well. The computer does not overheat and does not produce too much noise. The battery may easily work for over 4 hours which is not bad for a netbook. One of the few minor drawbacks of this device is the laggy trackpad which is sometimes a second or two delayed.
