The design:
Sony Ericsson W902 measures 110 x 49 x 11.7 mm and weighs 99.8 grams. The phone handles really nice despite the fact that it is so thin. The front of the Sony Ericsson W902 is dominated by the 2.2” display of very good quality. Above the display is the video call camera and ambient light sensor. Below it is the D-pad and quite comfortable and responsive keyboard. The keyboard is backlit and the backlighting changes when you play some music so it really looks nice. The top of Sony Ericsson W902 houses the Shake control key. The bottom of the phone houses the mouthpiece and a Walkman logo. On the left side of the Sony Ericsson W902 you will see the proprietary connectivity port, whereas on the right the volume rocker along with the dedicated camera key. The back of the Sony Ericsson W902 houses the 5 megapixel camera lens, the loudspeaker and the LED flash.

Performance:
The Sony Ericsson W902 is equipped with a 930 mAh battery which according to the manufacturer will last for about 9 hours of talk time and more or less 380 hours of standby. The screen on the Sony Ericsson W902 is of very good quality, with excellent contrast and bright colors. The direct sunlight legibility is, as in the case of the Sony Ericsson C905, good, but not perfect. Still, both of the Sony Ericsson phones outdo the Samsung M7500 Emporio Armani.
The Sony Ericsson W902 handles all the most common types of messages and, what is important, setting up the email client is as easy as providing your address and password. Browsing the web is a pleasure. You get the same web browser as in many recent Sony Ericsson phones (Sony Ericsson G705, Sony Ericsson C905, Sony Ericsson T700): Access NetFront v3.4. The browser has quite nice functionality and features such as virtual pointer, ‚find on page’, zooming and scrolling. Even elaborate websites are rendered well and are readable.
As many of the latest phones Sony Ericsson W902 comes with quite a bunch of time saving applications like calendar, unit converter, voice recorder, time clock, calculator and a few more. Unfortunately the Sony Ericsson W902 has no document viewer of any kind.

Image quality:
The Sony Ericsson W902’s digital camera is identical to the Sony Ericsson C902 so you may be certain that the overall image quality will be good. The photos taken with the Sony Ericsson W902 are full of color and have good contrast, but are sometimes oversharpened. The 5 megapixel camera takes pictures with the maximum resolution of 2592 x 1994. The camera has plenty of manual settings like exposure, self-timer, modes and scenes. Moreover the camera has a shake reduction system (nothing special here, though) and geotagging. Sony Ericsson W902 can also record movies but only in QVGA resolution at 30 fps, so unlike the still images functionality it disappoints.
Music and video player:
Sony Ericsson W902 features Walkman 3.0 and has very good functionality. You get a few equalizer presets, shake control. The music player displays album art, or some visual effect instead of it. However, both of them are minute and you are better off running the music player in the background and watching visualization on the home screen. You can, of course, sort your music library by artist, album genre and so on. The audio quality is very good and can easily compete with many dedicated mp3 players.
Menus / ease of use:
The user interface on the Sony Ericsson W902 is flash based to it offers nice design and smooth transitions. As you get a few main menu views and some themes to choose from you can customize the phone to suit your needs. The Sony Ericsson W902 has a flight mode, yet to use it the phone needs to have a SIM card and it needs to be restarted. Thanks to the built-in accelerometer you get auto rotation in the Media Center. Also thanks to the accelerometer you get the Shake control which makes it easy to change the tracks. To do that you simply have to press the button at the top of the phone at make a swift move with your phone.
